Twitter finds a similarity between Lockie Ferguson and Lt. Smith from Lagaan

New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson didn’t have the greatest of times in the ODI series against India where he couldn’t pick up a whole lot of wickets. Moreover, he also didn’t play all the five encounters of the series Nevertheless, the right-arm speedster was at his very best in the opening T20I against Rohit Sharma and Co at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
He opened his account with the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan, who threatened with a knock of 29 runs from 18 balls with two fours and three sixes. His second wicket came in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar when the Indians were chasing a mammoth 220 at a required rate, which started at 11 rpo. On a strip, that didn’t have much for the bowlers, he conceded only 22 runs.

He also cranked up the pace and didn’t drop his intensity at any point of the match. Apart from being in contention for a slot in the World Cup squad, Ferguson will also have the privilege of playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the meantime, Twitter noticed something intriguing about Lockie apart from his cricket.
The Auckland-born pacer sports a stylish moustache and it adds to his well-toned body. The users on Twitter reckons that it’s pretty similar to the one of Lt. Smith, a character in the renowned Bollywood movie Lagaan, starring the veteran Amir Khan and Gracy Singh, released way back on June 15, 2001.
The movie was based on cricket and it set the box office on fire. Subsequently, Twitterati dropped some hilarious tweets in the social media. A user called him ‘an officer of the East India Company, while one churned out a dialogue from the flick and associated it with Lockie.
