Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore were all over the news for all the wrong reasons before the start of Indian Premier League. Former India opener Gautam Gambhir had criticised Kohli’s captaincy at RCB, saying that the India skipper was lucky to have retained the captaincy despite the poor show of the team under his captaincy. And Kohli and his men have done little so far to shut the critics up.

The three-time IPL finalists are in tatters in the ongoing first game against defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk. Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni invited the visitors to bat first on a sluggish track and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh proved his decision spot on. He ran through the top-order to put the Super Kings well on top as the defending champions started the title-defence in style.

Kohli and Parthiv Patel started the proceedings on a cautious note on a pitch where the shot-making is looking a bit difficult. However, the two could add only 16 runs before the RCB skipper decided to break the shackles. He sat down and played a slog sweep but hit the shot straight to Ravindra Jadeja at mid-wicket. The batting star managed to score just 6 off 12 deliveries. Moeen Ali hit a six off Harbhajan Singh in the same over to ease the pressure off in the dressing room but did not last long.

In the very next over from Harbhajan, the England opener offered an easy catch back to the spinner to leave his side reeling at 28 for 2. All eyes were then on AB de Villiers but he too did not last long. The former South Africa skipper also perished while going for a big shot. Debutant Shimron Hetmyer was then run out even before he could open his account as the Royal Challengers found themselves 39 for 4. 6 runs later, another debutant Shivam Dube departed too.

With RCB once again failing to deliver, Twitter sprung into action as fans trolled the side mercilessly, here are some of the reactions:
