After the first two ODIs in the ongoing series against West Indies, it was expected that Rishabh Pant would be able to find a place in the playing XI in place of the struggling Yuvraj Singh, who has had a dismal outing so far in the West Indies. However, as it turned out, Pant still couldn’t find a place in the XI as Kohli visibly still backs the same XI which played in the second ODI.

If reports had to be believed, Indian batting sensation Rishabh Pant, who has been knocking at the selector’s doors for a while now, was expected to earn his ODI cap in the third one-dayer against West Indies in Antigua. Virat Kohli has already hinted about a change in the lineup after they left the shores of Trinidad and Tobago.

With Yuvraj Singh’s lackluster performance in the series so far with scores of 4 and 14, and MS Dhoni dispensing his knowledge to Rishabh Pant ahead of the match, it wasn’t rocket science to expect the southpaw in the playing XI of the squad.

Pant has already been given a taste of international cricket in the final T20 against England during the start of the year. The young batting sensation from Roorkee also impressed in the IPL following a splendid domestic season where he toppled all records and registered the quickest ton in history (48 balls). His onslaughts along with Sanju Samson against Gujarat Lions is still fondly remembered by many who followed the IPL this season.

Twitterati displayed their displeasure witnessing the absence of the talented Delhi Daredevils middle-order batsman and backing Yuvraj Singh for the slot consistently. On one hand, he was selected into the roster keeping an eye on the future, and on the other hand, Pant has been devoid of getting an opportunity against a team which did not even qualify for the semi-finals.

Let us look at how Twitte reacted to the omission of Pant in the XI
