Rated as one of the best finishers in the limited overs format over, Suresh Raina has been an integral part of the Indian limited overs team ever since his debut in 2005. He has been a vital cog in the national team for close to a decade. A handy all-rounder and an aggressive middle order batsman, Raina has been MS Dhoni’s go-to man in crisis situations.

Whether it was about building partnership and piloting chases or getting crucial breakthroughs with the ball, Raina has always been there for his team. Add athletic fielding capabilities to it, and you have an amazing modern age cricketer who can fill every role for his team.

He has been the chosen one as far as Indian cricket was concerned. As a teenager who lived in sports hostel after moving to Uttar Pradesh from Jammu Kashmir, he made his Under-19 debut as a 16-year-old. Raina soon entered the national team aged only 19 and began his international career with a duck. It took him some time to cement his place but he turned into a record-breaking cricketer later on.

A few extraordinary records that he holds includes being the only Indian cricketer to score a century in all three formats of the game (Tests, ODIs, T20s). He also happenes to be the second youngest player to be selected as the Indian captain.

An example of how he fared since his debut can be seen in the fact that the left-hander has played the most number of one-dayers before making his debut in the Test team which is a record. Also, despite struggling on his ODI debut, Raina made sure he started off his Test career with a bang by scoring a century on his Test debut. He scored 120 runs.

On his birthday, numerous cricketers wished the left-hander, who is at present out of the Indian team.
