Ravi Ashwin completed yet another five-wicket haul as the Indians shot the visiting England out for a paltry 255. Of course, one would consider it a paltry affair given the fact that the Indians managed 455 runs in the first innings. While many expected Virat Kohli to make amends and bowl again in the innings, it was clear that the Indians believed that the bowlers would be tired and batted again.

The main man as far as Kohli and the rest of the Indians were concerned was the fact that Ravi Ashwin was the man of the moment. While most bowlers took a wicket apiece including the impressive Jayant Yadav, it was Ashwin’s name that found itself all over the bowling card. Ben Duckett was the first to be dismissed when the uncanny 30-year old breached the defenses of the unassuming England southpaw.

Joe Root was the penultimate wicket to fall on the close of the day’s play on the second day when the former was looking to bring an end to the day in what was perhaps an aggressive move. However, the ploy worked when he picked out Umesh Yadav in the deep. With two wickets to his name already, it was only a case of being given more overs on the third day to complete what would be his 22nd five-wicket haul.

The third day began on a very difficult note for Ravi Ashwin as he found himself making futile attempts to dismiss two well-set batsmen. However, once Umesh Yadav rattled the stumps of the unassuming Jonny Bairstow, it was all bells and whistles as far as Ashwin was concerned. Stuart Broad, James Anderson, and even Ben Stokes were all dismissed as Ashwin helped himself to yet another five-wicket haul.
