Defending champions Sri Lanka had a very bad start to their contest after the lost their vital batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan cheaply due to an umpiring error. West Indies won the toss and went in to bowl first at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 21st match of the Super 10 stage.

The match is crucial from both team’s point of view; West Indies have a great chance to  put their one foot on the semi-final spot while Sri Lanka can strengthen their chances for the same purpose.

Lankan openers Dinesh Chandimal and Tillakaratne Dilshan came out to open the innings and set their team to a positive start, mustering 20 runs off the couple of overs by Andre Russell and Sulieman Benn. But, Darren Sammy, who was in a shuffling mood, brought in all-rounder Carlos Braithwaite. The giant right arm medium pacer did not take long to bring the breakthrough.

Braithwaite started off with a fuller delivery which managed o beat Dilshan and hit him straight on the pads. The ball came in angling into the pads. Dilshan aims to dispatch the ball on the leg side but misses it completely. The giant man appealed with full zest and the umpire agreed with him, shocking veteran Dilshan.

The ball looked to be going on the leg-side at first glance but the umpire, after taking some time, eventually the umpire gave him out much to the delight of the West Indians. There were doubts over the decision and eventually the TV replays showed that the ball was missing the ball by a huge margin.
