Twitter Reaction: Virat Kohli named World T20 2016 Player of the Tournament for his stellar performance

Indian batting ace Virat Kohli was announced as the Man of the Series of the 2016 ICC World T20. The ICC World T20 2016 today reached its conclusion after West Indies team beat England by four wickets in the finals at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The post-match ceremony obviously belonged to the Calypso Kings but India fans also had a reason to cheer as Kohli was adjudged as the top performer of the marquee event.

Virat Kohli undoubtedly was the most deserving man for the honor. The right-hander finished the tournament as the second highest run-getter of the tournament and as the highest run-getter for India. He made 273 runs at a staggering average of 136.50. Kohli was instrumental in India’s journey till the semi-final of the event.

Logically, he had single –handedly enabled India win crucial games in the tournament. Kohli started off with an average 23 run against New Zealand but, came back strongly versus Pakistan, scoring an unbeaten 55 against the arch-rivals in the high-intensity clash at Kolkata. The game against Bangladesh was yet again a below par one according to his standards but he followed it up with breathtaking knocks against Australia and West Indies.

In the do-or-die contest versus the Aussies, Kohli anchored the chase and helped India knock over the target and sail through to the semi –finals. India yet again witnessed his heroics against West Indies in the semi-final but his efforts weren’t enough as a similar knock from Lendl Simmons ended India World T20 journey.
