Virat Kohli proved yet again why he is reigning as the best batsman in the World T20. The 27-year-old smashed a fantastic 51-ball 82 runs knock to see India through to the semi-finals of the mega event. Kohli’s innings was studded with 2 sixes and 9 cracking boundaries.

It was a crucial match. The last spot for the semis was on the line and both the contenders – India and Australia locked horns for the place. Australia batted first and posted 160 runs for the Indians to chase with the help of Aaron Finch’s knock of 43 runs.

India’s had a sloppy start and could keep up with the required run rate. But the scenario slowly began to change after Virat Kohli arrived at the crease. The vice-captain played an outstanding knock. He first weaved a calm 43 runs stand to steady the ship. Yuvi struggled a bit with a strain in his ankle and needed a strap to be running again. His struggle in the middle meant India didn’t get those crucial singles and doubles going in the middle overs, the pressure soon mounted and he lost his wicket in the 14th over.

Later he forged with MS Dhoni and both made the remaining task look effortless. The pair stole runs with their quick running between the wicket. Kohli quickly changed the gears once the match was down to the last three overs. He smashed 19 off the 18th over from James Faulkner, the next from Coulter-Nile fetched 16 as Kohli hit him for 4 boundaries, India needed just 4 from the last over and Dhoni hit the first ball to the boundary to seal the win and a berth for his team in the semi-finals against West Indies.
