The Australian batting pair of Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh single-handedly destroyed West Indies at the Blundstone Arena.
Voges and Marsh fell just three runs short of breaking Australia’s record for best Test partnership. Both the batsmen pummeled the West Indies bowlers for 384 minutes and amassed 449 runs between them. However, in the 112th over West Indies found the breakthrough as the partnership was finally broken by Jomel Warrican after Shaun Marsh was caught by Darren Bravo at the score of 182.
As a result, the pair fell just three runs short of the record held by Bill Ponsford and Don Bradman. Both greats had made 451 during the 1934 Ashes series, at the Oval in London. But, the 449 runs stand is now the sixth among the highest partnerships in Test history. The Sri Lankan pair of Kumara Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are at the top of this chart. Both shared a 624 runs partnership against South Africa in 2006 at Colombo.
Voges and Marsh continued their overnight partnership of 317. By the 16th over of the day they became only the 15th pair in Test history to achieve a 400-plus partnership. Voges also reached his maiden double-century as he overtook Ricky Ponting’s venue record of 209. It is also the highest individual score by an Australian against WI in Tests. Voges remained unconquered on 269 as Steve Smith Declared the Australian innings during the lunch break at 4/583.

If Marsh gets 200 he's a lock to play Boxing Day, as there's no way selectors would drop someone after double-century… @YCCCDizzy #AusvWI
