Twitter Reactions: Afghanistan register historic series win over Zimbabwe: They had started the series at a low, losing the 1st ODI by a huge margin and thus giving the impression that hosts Zimbabwe might dominate the second series in a row after they had already beaten Ireland a week ago. But the fashion in which they made a comeback gave the Afghanistan team a confidence that they can beat Zimbabwe.
The 3rd match went against them but we witnessed another bounce back and a considerable one in the 4th ODI which saw the Afghan team level the series 2-2. Now it was all about one game, the 5th ODI at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo was going to decide the fate of the series and whether or not Afghanistan can win their 1st bilateral series.
Batting first Asghar Stanikzai’s men put up 245 runs on the board with opener Noor Ali Zadran and senior pro, Mohammad Nabi making best contributions with half-centuries, they scored 54 and 53 respectively. Coming in, to bat Zimbabwe must have hoped for their batsmen to fire, but like they have done so very often in the series, the Afghan bowlers cramped the home team and killed all their hopes bowling them out for 172 in 44.1 overs to win their first ever bilateral series.
Here is how twitter reacted to Afghanistan’s historic win:
