The two island teams, Sri Lanka and West Indies met in an important group juncture in the WT20 at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. These teams had met in the rain-marred semifinals in the last WT20 where Sri Lanka had won the match by DL method.
The Windies Captain Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to bowl. Dilshan began with a bang in the first over by hitting a six and a boundary of Andre Russell. However he lost his wicket in the next over. The Sri Lankan batting order collapsed as they failed to build any partnership.
Thisara Perera played the lone hand for the Lankans with a brisk 40 off 29 balls. Samuel Badree and Dwayne Bravo were the pick of the bowlers picking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Sri Lanka could only manage 122/9 in their full quota of 20 overs.
Holder coming in for Gayle during fielding meant that Gayle couldn’t open the innings and ended up not batting at all in his IPL home ground. Andre Fletcher made sure that the Chinnaswamy crowd didn’t run out of any power. Starting the proceedings, Fletcher blasted a quickfire 84 runs off just 64 balls which included 5 sixes.
Andre Russell also displayed some finishing skills with 20(8) as West Indies went on to win the match by 7 wickets with 10 balls to spare. Twitter kept everyone entertained with some hilarious and statistic tweets. Here, we have a look at some of them:

Bizarre dismissal there! Bravo's slower ball deceives Mathews and replay shows it was a legal delivery #WT20 #SLvWI pic.twitter.com/8WNuAPX4w0

Mathews has an uncanny habit of picking a wicket in the first over of a T20 game…with no Gayle, there's more hope. #SL #Bing #DimagSay #WI

You don't make enough runs and then drop catches=can't win. Top innings by Fletcher though. 84 out of 116. Wow. #DimagSay #SLvsWI #Bing ?

So the West Indies cruise home on a surface they would have been considered vulnerable on a few years ago.
