Twitter Reactions: Arjun Tendulkar gets mixed response as he is all set to make India U19 debut
Will the pace bowling all-rounder will be able to make a mark?
4 Min Read

Ever since Sachin Tendulkar has retired from all the formats of the game, all eyes have been on his son Arjun Tendulkar and his progress as a cricketer. Finally, the day arrived when he was picked for the first time in the India U19 team which will most probably start his journey towards the glory. He has been selected in the four-day squad which will play the two-match series against Sri Lanka in the island nation in July. However, Twitterati is thrilled with the prospect and is waiting for the Junior Master Blaster to unleash himself.
No wonder he will be compared with his father who used to just instil fears in the mind of the bowlers with his presence in the middle. Sachin made his international debut at the age of 16 and the illustrious career ended after 24 long years when the country stood still to bid adieu to their God in the sport. Arjun is already 18 years old which suggests that there will be no special treatment for him as far as his selection in the senior team is concerned and will go through the process.
Pace bowling all-rounder to make a mark?
India has always been in the need of the pace bowling all-rounder which is what Arjun Tendulkar offers. Currently, it is Hardik Pandya who is doing the job in the senior team but there is still a dearth of quality players in that department. If the youngster manages to grab his opportunity and play consistently in the near future, we might well see him in the India colours going forward in the next few years.
There will be a lot of pressure on him now that he will be watched by everyone and expect him to perform like his father. But he is an all-rounder and will most probably not open the innings like his supremely talented father. The Indian fans will be thrilled to watch him though and will somehow try to find the shades of Sachin’s batting in his technique whenever he will stride out to bat on the 22 yards. The similar excitement was found on social media when he received his maiden call-up as Twitterati hoped that he would make it big.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Arjun Tendulkar is all set to play Under-19 cricket for India. Interestingly, his father, Sachin Tendulkar never played any age group cricket for India!
At 16 he was already a Test player!๐— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) June 8, 2018

From whatever little I have seen, Arjun Tendulkar doesn't come across as the next great talent. One could see with Zaheer in 1999-00 that he looked very promising. Similar with Javs in 1991. Just an opinion ๐
