Day 2 of the St Lucia Test started with Ravi Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha continuing from where they left. They began slowly in the morning session before Saha broke loose in the last few overs of the session. India managed to not lose a single wicket in the first 2 hours of play with both the batsmen batting in the nineties.
Ashwin was the first one to reach the milestone with a six as the second session began. It was his fourth century in Tests, all against the Caribbeans. Saha followed up with his maiden Test ton and putting to rest all speculations over his batting. Both put up a match-saving stand of 213 runs for the sixth wicket and recovered India from 126/5.
Once the partnership was broken, Windies didn’t have much trouble cleaning the tail as India got all for 353 runs. Miguel Cummins and Alzarri Joseph led the charge for the Windies with 3 wickets each. Roston Chase and Shannon Gabriel also got a couple of wickets.
West Indies started their innings with Kraigg Brathwaite and Leon Johnson. Indian bowlers toiled hard to get the wicket. KL Rahul dropped a catch at slips but eventually effected a superb run out to send Johnson back. Brathwaite scored a fifty and remained not out with Darren Bravo as West Indies ended the day at 107/1.
Twitter was amused with the brilliant knocks by Saha and Ashwin who got lots of accolades for their partnership. Jadeja was trolled for his failure with the bat. In the end, Windies evened up with a good start and Day 3 will be crucial in determining towards whose favour this Test match swings. Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of Day 2:
Solid start by WI too, draw likely #WIvIND

Ashwin's promotion to #6 is badly showing up a guy like Mitch Marsh. Scoring runs under pressure and getting wickets. India has a big future

And then @klrahul11 ended the frustration of d Indians! That will be a moral booster!
Poor choice of single though!#IndvsWI #WIvsIND— Ajith P (@I_AmAjith) August 10, 2016
If Chandrika was playing this test, he would have been dismissed by now thus exposing Bravo early on in the innings.

Indian top order: "What a tough pitch."
Ashwin gets 100.
"OK, but…"
Saha gets 100.
"Yeah, but…"
Jadeja out for 6.

Rahul needs to understand he can't drop catches in the slips. Triggers unbearable nostalgia

Evergreen @ashwinravi99 continues making merry! Very happy for @Wriddhipops,hardest working player I know, well deserved #FirstOfMany #WIvIND

Ofcourse! Would have been totally uncool for Sir Jadeja to score in a match where likes of Ashwins and Saha's are scoring centuries. #WIvIND

Quiet, efficient, understated Wriddhiman Saha has made a giant statement with that century.

100 for #win ❤️ but but WHAT DID HE HAVE FOR LUNCH
— Prithi Ashwin (@prithinarayanan) August 10, 2016
While @ashwinravi99 is knocking on the door of a century for a while, Saha might just beat him to it!

Ajay Jadeja: "Saha's intent has been positive ever since he walked in yesterday". You mean 1 (34) was positive intent? #INDvWI

Ashwin making us wait for his 100 more than Indian athletes making us wait for a medal. #IndVsWI

Ashwin is not taking the single to get to his hundred only because Shami is still working out how to use the camera… 🙂

If Ashwin keeps pulling such stuff with the bat in ODIs too,
We might well have Dhoni say 'Nice batting Ash' from non strikers end as well.— Sameer Allana (@HitmanCricket) August 10, 2016
