Twitter Reactions: Australia beat India to take unassailable 3-0 lead

Australia scripted their third consecutive chase to pocket the series 3-0. It was a do-or-die game for the visitors. India did well to put up a challenging target of 296 runs for Australia to chase. Shikhar Dhawan produced a snail-paced half-century after India lost an early wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma. However, Virat Kohli smashed his 24th ODI hundred and batted brilliantly with Ajinkya Rahane to help India reach a comfortable position after the first half.
The responsibility was on the bowlers now. MS Dhoni made a couple of swaps in the playing XI with a hope of a turnaround. The Aussies had a decent start but soon lost Finch in the 8th over. The Smith-Bailey duo looked threatening once again but Jadeja produced stunning breakthroughs and dismissed both of them in a short period of time.
The pressure was on the Australians in the middle overs. For some time, it looked as if India has escaped from three straight losses. However, Glenn Maxwell proved to be the difference between both the hosts and the visitors. The match was at the knife’s edge after the back to back wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Wade. However, Maxwell produced a stable headed knock of 96 runs to ensure a win for Australia. James Faulkner also deserved appreciation for the anchor’s role he played with Maxwell. Indian bowlers, for the first time in the series had put up some competitive performance. However, when the chance to land the knockout blows came, they missed their mark.
India will now hope to end the losing streak when they go to Canberra to play the fourth ODI on January 20th.
Now this was a great game of cricket to watch. Could have gone either way right to the death. Well done Australia and commiserations India
