Australia had a disappointing outing in the One-Day International series against England as they were comprehensively beaten. However, the Kangaroos have stormed back to win three back-to-back games in the ongoing T20 tri-series series involving New Zealand and England. Subsequently, David Warmer’s men have secured a berth in the final of the event.

They thumped both their oppositions in their erstwhile games and they replicated the same form at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when they beat England by seven wickets. After winning the toss, David Warner had no hesitation to field first and rightly so, bearing in mind the stupendous performances by their batsmen.

Australia all the way

England were jittery right from the outset and lost wickets at regular intervals. James Vince and Jos Buttler, the English skipper, brought the momentum back for England with a stand of 36 runs. However, Tye cleaned up Vince to clinch back the ascendancy for Australia. Nevertheless, Buttler and Sam Billings’ partnership of 43 runs guided England past the 100-run mark.

Buttler top-scored for them as England could eventually muster 137 runs in their allotted 20 overs. From Australia’s perspective, Kane Richardson nipped out three crucial wickets while Marcus Stoinis was the economical bowler for them. The target wasn’t daunting for the explosive Aussie batting lineup by any stretch of the imagination.

David Willey got rid of David Warner to jolt Australia early in their run-chase. However, Chris Lynn and D’Arcy Short blazed away to a 49-run stand. However, Chris Jordan, the Barbados-born cricketer, dismissed Lynn to ignite England’s hope of a comeback. Nevertheless, Glenn Maxwell took the bowlers to the cleaners and took the sting out of the opposition bowling attack.

Post Maxwell’s dismissal, Aaron Finch stomped and smashed 20 runs off four balls, which included a couple of boundaries and sixes each. The blitz took Australia past the finishing line with seven wickets and 33 balls to spare. They will now play New Zealand at the Eden Park in Auckland for their fourth game.

Quite rightly, Twitter hailed them on their stupendous run:
