The victory run of the Chennai Super Kings continued in the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They managed to hold their nerves in the final over to eke out a very narrow 4 run win in the match. This win takes the Super Kings to a very comfortable slot in the points table. On the other hand, the Sunrisers seem to be losing out on key moments in the last couple of games.

It was not long ago, when the SRH camp had a little three-match unbeaten streak in the competition. Now, they find themselves with two defeats in two matches that followed. In the game against the Chennai Super Kings, the SRH camp would feel they were unlucky to have not got through despite the efforts of Kane Williamson and Yusuf Pathan. In the final over of the run chase of 182, Rashid Khan also gave a brief scare to CSK but Dwayne Bravo held his nerve to win the last ball thriller for his side.

Earlier in the game, it was the home skipper Kane Williamson who had won the toss. He decided to field first. The Chennai Super Kings brought in Faf du Plessis in their lineup for the first time this season. The South African skipper opened with Shane Watson on the day. Both players largely struggled to get their timings right. After the sluggish start and the early departure of the openers, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu took center stage.

The Indian veteran duo rebuilt the innings at a brisk pace. While Raina largely played a supporting role, Ambati Rayudu thrived in the middle order. Rayudu blasted a quick 79 off 37 balls with 9 fours and four sixes to his name to surge the Chennai Super Kings total past the 150 run mark.

He was run out in the 17th over that brought MS Dhoni at the crease. Meanwhile, Raina remained unbeaten on 54 off 43 deliveries to finish things on a high for the visitors. Dhoni also chipped in with a crucial unbeaten 25 off 12 balls to see his side finish with 182/3 in the stipulated 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Sunrisers were pushed on the backfoot by the early triple strike of Deepak Chahar. Chahar’s 3/15 put CSK in the commanding position. Just when people started ruling SRH out, Kane Williamson (84 off 51 balls) and Yusuf Pathan (45 off 27 balls) added a quick 79-run stand for the fifth wicket in just 45 balls to get the hosts right back in to the game. It was a case of being so close yet so far for them as both got dismissed at the final stages of the game to hand Chennai Super Kings a narrow 4 run win.
