Winning the toss, South Africa opted to bat first at Wankhede. Quinton De Kock began in his own fashion as hit 5 boundaries in the first 2 overs. Hashim Amla got out early losing his wicket to Shapoor.
Du Plessis then joined in to score a brisky 41 off 27 bowls as South Africa reached to 92/2 after 10 overs. De Kock got out scoring 45 from 31 before the AB De Villiers show began. After scoring 29 off the first 20 balls, AB De Villiers hit 29 runs in an over to Rashid Khan as he reached his half-century in just 24 balls.
The finishing touches were provided by JP Duminy and Miller which propelled the Proteas score to a splendid 209/5 in their quota of 20 overs.
On the other hand, Afghanistan began on a destructive mode powered By Ahmed Shahzad’s innings off 44 from just 19 balls. He hit Abbott for 22 runs in the second over to set up the chase for Afghanistan.
At one stage, Afghanistan were looking good enough to shock the Proteas with useful contributions from Noor Ali, Samiullah Shenwari and Naib. However they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and went on to lose by 37 runs. Inspite of the loss, the Afghanistan batsmen’s approach was worth appreciating.
Here are the Twitter reactions that took place during the Afghanistan vs South Africa game:

#AFG can still comeback strong, even if #SA have 60 after 6. Can tie them down with variations, and spinners in middle overs.

#SA are putting enormous pressure on #AFG. 78 needed from 36 balls for an unlikely victory. Can Nabi or Shenwari turn heroes? #SAvAFG #WT20
— Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) March 20, 2016
Why do SA look so angry that Afg have run them so close? Embarrassing yes but you were over confident by batting 1st at W'khede. #SAvsAFG

Sweet lord. Proteas look legit distraught when they take a wicket. I get it's been a tough day in the field, but show some enthusiasm FFS!
