Babar Azam led the Pakistan team to a series win against Afghanistan after the 'Men in Green' won the first two ODIs of the three-match series in Sri Lanka. With the series in the bag, Pakistan made four changes to their playing XI for the third ODI in Colombo, on Saturday, August 26.

During the toss, Babar mentioned that the in-form Saud Shakeel was making his ODI debut for Pakistan. However, this wasn't true as the talented left-hander had already played five ODIs before this game. Fans were quick to point out that when Saud made his ODI debut in 2021 in a match against England in Cardiff, Azam was the one who presented him with his maiden cap.

Babar Azam's error gave rise to hilarious trolls on social media and the same mistake was made later by the likes of Ramiz Raja and Aamir Sohail.

Saud Shakeel impresses briefly before unfortunate run out, gets added to Asia Cup squad

Pakistani fans were keenly looking forward to how Saud Shakeel would fare after finally getting a chance in the ODI format. The 27-year-old has been prolific in the red-ball format and could be a last-minute pick in the ODI World Cup side. He wasn't initially picked in Pakistan's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. However, he was added on Saturday to make it an 18-member squad now.

The ODIs against Afghanistan could have been a great opportunity for him to showcase his skills in the white-ball format. However, the Asian giants kept him on the bench for the first two games after finally playing him in the third ODI. Saud came in to bat in the 37th over after Rashid Khan got rid of Babar. The Southpaw hit a couple of glorious boundaries and was looking good before some excellent fielding from Gurbaz found him short of his crease. Saud was run out for nine off six balls and Pakistan eventually set a target of 269 for the Afghans on a challenging surface.

Here's how fans reacted to Babar Azam's brain fade moment at the toss today:
