'Even our village boys can make a better one' - Twitter mocks pictures of pitch in use for opening WI vs IND Test

With the multi-format series between India and the West Indies set to begin today, July 12, the fans are waiting to see their favorite players back in action once again. It is worth noting that the multi-format series will kick off with two Test matches, with the first one scheduled to begin on July 12.

Ahead of the first Test, glimpses of the pitch in use for the match went viral all over social media. Fans took to Twitter to troll the pitch, as the pictures that went viral showed almost no grass coverage.

Fans trolled the pitch and opined that the surface does not look up to the standard of an international game. Judging by the viral pictures, a damp surface could be expected for the first Test. 

West Indies opt to bat first in the opening Test

With the proceedings of the first Test finally underway, the West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first at Windsor Park. The hosts got off to a horrid start to the game as opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul was sent packing by Ravichandran Ashwin quite early on in his innings for just 12 runs.

Getting off to a thunderous start, the Indian team will be keen on building on it and get back in the flow. Led by Rohit Sharma, the side will be looking to prove themselves once more and make a fitting comeback after their recent heartbreaking loss in the final of the World Test Championship. 

India played Australia in the WTC final at the Oval in London from July 7-11. It is safe to say that they were completely dominated by the Pat Cummins-led side and lost the tie by 209 runs. 

After their recent heartbreak, the positive start against the West Indies would be just what they are looking for. The side will be gearing up to get off to the perfect start to the new World Test Championship cycle.
