The much-awaited fixture of India versus Pakistan takes place in Super 4 of the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai on September 4, Sunday. And it was Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who won the toss and opted to field first. It is the clash of two giants of Asian cricket, and the arch-rivals face-off for the second time in the tournament.

With only moments away from the start of the Indo-Pak clash, Dubai International Cricket Stadium was all set for the mega clash and the crowd let out a huge roar as the two captains walked in for the toss. And Ravi Shastri, who was with the mic at the toss, truly lived up to the hype and magnitude of the occasion with his booming voice.

With a strong resonant voice, Shastri said, “India versus Pakistan, Asia Cup, round two, Dubai. In the blue corner, Rohit Sharma, in the green corner, Babar Azam, Pakistan. Andy Pycroft has a job to do as a Match Referee.” And as it turned out, Pycroft had to get onto the job straight away.

Shastri commits blooper at the toss

As the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, tossed the coin, Babar called ‘tails’. But, Shastri announced that the call was ‘heads’. And the match referee was in the action immediately, as he appeared to correct Shastri, and the toss was awarded to Pakistan. India have made a few changes in the playing XI with Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi coming in for Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja and Avesh Khan.

Jadeja has been ruled out due to a knee injury while Avesh is said to be unwell. Pakistan, on the other hand, brought in fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain for injured Shahnawaz Dahani. India came out with the familiar opening combination of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, and got India off to a flyer.

Meanwhile, Twitter loved Shastri coming back behind the mic for the toss. He is coming back to commentary slowly after giving India head coach job and the fans loved to see him at the toss as well.
