'Selectors are you watching?' - Twitter erupts as Prithvi Shaw smashes unbeaten century in Duleep Trophy 2022 semi-final

Emerging batting talent Prithvi Shaw has given a befitting reply to his critics with the bat as he scored an outstanding century in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2022 semifinal encounter between West Zone and Central Zone at Coimbatore on Friday, September 16.

Shaw carried his outstanding Ranji Trophy form into this tournament and went berserk against the Central Zone’s bowling attack as he scored a blistering unbeaten 104 runs off 96 deliveries and his knock included 11 fours and three maximums. Prithvi’s ton helped West Zone end at 130/3 thereby extending their second innings lead to a mammoth 259 runs.

Prithvi Shaw’s century helps West Zone gain command over Central Zone

The Duleep Trophy 2022 semifinal match which has only completed two days at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore has so far witnessed a total dominance from West Zone and courtesy of Shaw’s century, the game has seemingly drifted away from Central Zone.

It was not at all easy for Shaw to begin with as he survived a doubtful caught behind appeal off Aniket Choudhary in the second over of the innings. Nonetheless, the youngster did not let that distract him in any manner as he stayed focused and continued playing his shots to keep the scoreboard ticking. He brought up his half-century off just 32 deliveries.

The young batter showed a fearless intent against all of the opposition bowlers including Kumar Kartikeya who had registered an outstanding fifer the previous day. He made Kartikeya look ordinary as he attacked the left-arm spinner right from the word ‘go’ and never allowed him to settle down.

Shaw’s hardwork and gritty batting paid off really well as he successfully breached three figures off just 88 deliveries when he pulled a delivery bowled by Gaurav Yadav over deep midwicket.

The youngster would now be hoping that he adds more runs to his as well as the team’s tally and bat the opposition out of the contest. The Twitterati were overwhelmed with Prithvi Shaw’s enterprising batting performance and wondered why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not even bother to take any efforts in selecting him for India’s 15-member squad for next month’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
