IND vs SA, 1st ODI: Best memes from IND vs SA game

After drawing the T20I series, India and South Africa locked horns in the first ODI of the three-game series. Taking on each other at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, December 17, the clash began with South Africa batting first after winning the toss.

Hoping to post a huge total on the board for the Men in Blue, the Proteas succumbed to the brilliant bowling attack of the visitors. Openers Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi were dismissed for zero and 28 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Rassie van der Dussen was sent packing for a duck as well. Under pressure, South Africa looked towards their middle order once again. However, they were not able to absorb the pressure and perform as well.

Skipper Aiden Markram added 12 runs on the board, with Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and Wiaan Mulder scoring just 6, 2, and zero runs on the board, respectively. Andile Phehlukwayo was the highest run-getter for the hosts in the first innings with 33 runs in 49 deliveries. The Indian bowling attack performed exceptionally well, as Arshdeep Singh took five brilliant wickets, Avesh Khan took four, and Kuldeep Yadav took one. South Africa were bundled out for 116 runs in the first innings as India looked to clinch the first ODI of the series. 

Sai Sudharsan shines on ODI debut as India overpower South Africa

Aiming to chase down the target of 117 runs, India got off to a shaky start as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for just five runs. However, debutant Sai Sudharsan put in a brilliant performance, scoring 55 runs in 43 deliveries, the youngster secured the win for the visitors. 

He was accompanied by Shreyas Iyer, who scored 52 runs in 45 deliveries as India won the game by eight wickets and got the lead in the series early on.
