Aussie skipper Steven Smith won the toss and elected to bat first in the contest. Openers Travis Head and Usman Khawaja handed a solid start as they raised a 61-run partnership just shortly after the drinks of first session.
However, the home side quickly tuned their game and returned two wickets in quick time as Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami got the vital scalps of Head and Marnus Labuschagne. With the dismissals, the tourists posted 75 runs at lunch.
