Delhi Capitals finally registered their second win of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) with a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 26 on Friday, April 12 at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After opting to bat first, LSG posted a good score of 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs as Ayush Badoni rescued his team’s innings with a brilliant 55* (35).

In reply, Delhi chased down the target in 18.1 overs courtesy of a half-century from Jake Fraser-McGurk and a captain’s knock of 41 (24) by Rishabh Pant. Following their win, DC finally added crucial two points on the table and maintained second last spot with four points to their name. On the other hand, LSG maintained their fourth position despite a loss having six points from five matches.

1. Kuldeep Yadav spins a web around LSG

The left-arm spinner came on to bowl the eighth over of the innings and immediately struck for Delhi getting the big scalps of Marcus Stoinis (8 off 10) and Nicholas Pooran (0 off 1). Kuldeep further dismissed LSG captain KL Rahul (39 off 22) in his second over to leave Lucknow in all sorts of trouble in the middle overs. He finally finished with figures of 3/20 in four overs and was adjudged Player of the Match.

2. Ayush Badoni rescues Lucknow’s sinking ship

The 24-year-old walked in to bat with his team reeling at 77/5 in 9.3 overs and bailed them out of trouble with a magnificent knock of 55* off 35 balls smashing five fours and a six. He got involved in a crucial 73-run stand with Arshad Khan off just 42 balls to help LSG finish on 167/7 in 20 overs.

3. Jake Fraser McGurk scores a fifty on IPL debut

The 22-year-old walked to the crease in the fourth over of the innings and got off the mark with a maximum on just the second ball of his IPL career. McGurk completely turned the tide in DC’s favour with his swashbuckling knock of 55 (35) clobbering two fours and five gigantic sixes. He got involved in a crucial 77-run stand with Rishabh Pant which brought Delhi on the verge of a win.
