Star India women’s batter Smriti Mandhana made history with yet another excellent performance against South Africa women in the ongoing ODI series between both sides. Both sides locked horns in the second ODI of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 19.

India women came into the clash on the back of a dominant win in the first ODI, with Smriti Mandhana being the star performer after she hit a ton in the first game, propelling India to a win. However, the second ODI was no different.

Batting first, Mandhana once again opened the innings for the Indian team and managed to score yet another marvellous century. Scoring 136 runs to her name in 120 deliveries, Mandhana continued his exceptional form and set the foundation for the women in blue in the first innings.

Furthermore, Mandhana was backed by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who played a marvellous knock as well. Coming into bat in the middle order, Harmanpreet Kaur scored 103* runs in 88 deliveries, propelling India women to a total of 325 runs in the first innings.

As for South Africa women, Nonkululeko Mlaba was the highest wicket-taker, with two wickets to her name. Masabata Klaas took one wicket as well. Already having lost the first ODI, South Africa women have a mammoth target of 326 runs to chase down ahead of them.

If the side fails to chase down the target, India women will clinch the series after having won the first ODI. In the first game of the series, South Africa women were bundled out for just 122 runs in the second innings when they attempted to chase down a target of 266.
