Before the game even began, the RCB fans were in for a surprise as Virat Kohli was seen coming out for the toss for the action-packed encounter.
The star batter informed at the toss since Faf du Plessis can’t take the field, he will be playing as an Impact Player, and hence Kohli was captaining the side for the match. It is for the first time since stepping down as RCB captain in 2021 that Kohli will be seen leading the side.

The 34-year-old is being seen in imperious form in the ongoing season as well, having scored 220 runs in five innings at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 147.65 with three fifties to his name.
Kohli and Faf once again get RCB off to a blistering start
Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first by Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran, Kohli (50* off 40) and du Plessis (64* off 44) once again got RCB off to a blistering start adding 119/0 in 14 overs and have set an incredible platform for the death overs. During the course of his innings, the RCB captain also reached the landmark of 600 fours in the IPL. He now has the second most number of fours in the tournament’s history after Shikhar Dhawan.
