Mohammad Hafeez has once again pulled himself into trouble from the fans with the recent ‘laadla’ statement. In a recent interaction on a local news channel, Hafeez claimed India as a revenue-making country and noted they get pampered for the amount of revenue they generate and not on the basis of how they play.
"I don't know a lot, but I definitely know that in our society, whoever is the earner is loved by everyone, is the most laadla (pampered), gets the most kisses from everyone," he said in a video posted on his official Twitter handle. "India is a revenue-making country. So even in bilateral series across the world, where they get sponsorship, they get a jackpot, it's hard to deny these things," he added.
Mohammad Hafeez’s statement on Rohit Sharma previously
This is not the first time that Hafeez made controversial statements as earlier he had received a lot of criticism for stating that the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma looks weak and confused in Asia Cup. He also mentioned that the captaincy seems to have brought discomfort to Rohit and felt that Rohit’s expressions told the story.
"You see Rohit Sharma's expression after winning the match. This expression happened after India won by 40 runs. I had talked about Rohit Sharma's body language, when he came out to toss, he looked weak, he seemed afraid and confused. I am not being able to see Rohit Sharma, whom I have observed during matches playing incredible innings. I think captaincy is putting a lot of pressure on Rohit. He is facing a lot of difficulties," Hafeez told previously in a video.
Hafeez, popularly known as ‘the professor’, was part of the T20 World Cup 2021 for Pakistan and played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20Is until he announced his retirement earlier this year. Ahead of the India-Pakistan clash on Sunday (Sep 4), Hafeez has now spiced up the intensity of the game and the fans lashed out at him on Twitter.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Mohammad Hafeez’s statement
