India and Australia are locking horns in Match 5 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 08 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Australia captain won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the decision didn’t turn out to be good as they were bundled out for 199 in 49.3 overs. In the second innings, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan walked out to the middle to get their team off to a great start.
However, star Australian speedster Mitchell Starc was upto the task as he struck for his side in the first over itself by dismissing Kishan for a golden duck. The southpaw chased a wide half-volley and ended up edging it straight to Cameron Green at slip.

In the very next over, Josh Hazlewood piled on the agony for India as he got the prized scalp of captain Rohit Sharma by trapping him in front of the stumps for a six-ball duck. The Indian skipper reviewed the decision but the umpire’s call on hitting meant that Rohit would have to walk back to the pavilion.
Shreyas Iyer, who was fresh from a hundred vs Australia last month, walked in at number four to stabilize the innings. However, he ended up playing a bizarre shot on just his third ball and found David Warner at short cover. As a result, Iyer also departed for a duck leaving India in all sorts of trouble at 2/3 after two overs.

Apart from him, Jasprit Bumrah (2/35) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/42) also picked up two wickets each to bundle out Australia for 199.
