Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed played some sensational cricket on Day 5 of the second Test against New Zealand and eventually saved the game for the Babar Azam-led side.

Pakistan were completely bamboozled in the initial phase of the fourth innings after they were set a challenging total of 319 runs. The hosts lost three quick wickets in the morning session and just when the run chase seemed extremely arduous, Sarfaraz stepped up and scored a century to take Pakistan close to the target. However, just when it looked like he will take his team home, Michael Bracewell got the better of him in the final half hour of the day.

Netizens were very impressed with the 35-year-old and praised him for his brilliant knock against the quality bowling attack of New Zealand. He was the only difference between the two sides and that was appreciated by cricket fans. Previously, he was trolled for various reasons and was dropped from the squad as well but the cricketer did the hard yards in the domestic circuit and made his return in a grand fashion.

The Kiwis looked very disappointed as they were the favourites to win the game after the morning session on the final day. They fought hard till the final ball as the Tim Southee-led side needed just one wicket to win the historic Test. However, the game ended in a stalemate much to the disappointment of the fans as the visibility got substantially reduced and both teams mutually decided to settle for a draw. Players from both teams were seen shaking hands with each other after a riveting day of Test cricket.
