The fourth match of the SA20 2023 between Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings witnessed an abysmal batting collapse from the Super Kings at Boland Park. Faf du Plessis' men batted first in the match and were on the back foot from the get-go. They were in danger of being bundled out before even breaching the 50-run mark after their team were restricted to 16/4 inside the powerplay. Twitter was flooded with memes after Joburg's woeful batting display in Paarl.

The Super Kings were looking to register their second successive win in the inaugural edition of the tournament. But the Men in Yellow failed to impress in the powerplay for the second game running. The procession started with the opening wicket of Janneman Malan in the third over. The team was reeling at 16/4 after the end of the fifth over and needed another innings-saving knock from last match's hero Donovan Ferreira.

However, Ferreira failed to replicate his exploits from the previous encounter and succumbed cheaply in the seventh over. The Super Kings' innings went into a tailspin from thereon as the Paarl Royals kept chipping at the wickets. Lizaad Williams and Aaron Phangiso helped their side escape embarrassment with a 26-run stand for the last wicket.

The valiant effort from the tailenders meant that the Super Kings managed to reach a total of 81 runs, bundling out before playing their full quota of 20 overs. Royals' left-arm spinner Bjorn Fortuin started the procession for his side, dismissing both the openers and finishing with brilliant figures of 3/16 in his four overs.

Fellow tweaker Evan Jones also impressed with his off-spin, returning with three wickets to his name in his bowling spell. Ferisco Adams grabbed a couple of wickets in the match, while the returning Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi claimed a wicket each.

The Men in Pink chased the target with utter ease despite a slight hiccup at the start of their innings. The win means that Paarl Royals becomes the fourth team to register their first win of the tournament.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Joburg Super Kings' abysmal batting performance:
