Team India are currently playing Bangladesh in the first of the two-match Test series. Stand-In India skipper KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first. Ahead of the game, the opening batter had revealed he intended to play an ‘aggressive brand’ of cricket in the red-ball format, but things did not pan out as per the plans.

Prior to the Test match against the Bangla Tigers, KL Rahul said that he wanted to bring a change in the approach adopted by the Indian side. He further suggested that playing aggressive cricket will help India in the long term as the team aims to make a place in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23.

It must be noted that India have a good chance of making it to the finale of the global ICC event next year. However, in order to make it possible, the side will need to register victories against Bangladesh in the two contests, and later clinch victories against Australia.

Speaking about the match, the Bangla Tigers started off the contest on a high note as they picked up three wickets in the first session. The wickets included that of stand-in skipper KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli as the three walked back within just 20 overs of the first innings.

KL Rahul's 'aggressive' strategy fails

Netizens were left fuming after KL Rahul failed to put up a show and was dismissed by Khaled Ahmed scoring mere 22 runs from 54 balls. The Indian cricket fans slammed the skipper for his ‘aggressive cricket’ remark which he made ahead of the game, as the side displayed a ‘no-show’ in the contest in the first session.

Bangladesh dominated team India in the recently concluded ODI series by winning it 2-1 and have been giving the rival side a run for their money in the longest format. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side has never found success against the Indian side in the red-ball format. In the 11 games played so far, India won nine times and the remaining two matches ended in a draw.

It remains to be seen if KL Rahul and Co. will be able to turn things around for good and obtain a result in their favour. On the other hand, Bangladesh will look to overcome their failures against the rival side in the Test format and register their first-ever win.

Here is how Netizens have reacted to the 'aggressive cricket' remark by KL Rahul-
