'To the man who made cricket a religion' - Cricket fraternity floods wishes on Sachin Tendulkar's 51st birthday

Regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar turned 51 on April 24, 2024. Ever since the advent of his career at 16, Sachin showed glimpses of greatness, and across his career, which spanned over 24 years, Tendulkar solidified himself as the god of Indian cricket and a true maestro with the bat. 

The newly turned 51-year-old retired from cricket 11 years ago in 2013, however, his influence and fans still continue to flourish. Adorned with accolades such as the Khel Ratna and Bharat Ratna, the undisputed greatness of Sachin will forever live among cricket fans across the globe. 

Known as the ‘Master Blaster’, Sachin held almost every possible batting record. Sachin played 664 matches for the Indian team across formats, which include 200 Test matches, 463 ODIs, and one T20I match. Tendulkar amassed 34,357 runs to his name across formats and earned his status as one of the most legendary batters of all time. 

It was November 2013, when Sachin Tendulkar hung his boots and ended a career with numerous accolades and records, with the astonishing record of 100 international centuries. 

Despite retiring in 2013, there are many records that still belong to Sachin Tendulkar, even after 11 years. The legendary batter has the most international runs to his name; he holds the record for the most international centuries (100), he remains the recipient of the highest number of Player of the Match awards (76), he still has the record of scoring the highest number of centuries in a calendar year (9); and he also has the most Test appearances by any player (200).

With Sachin celebrating his 51st birthday, the entire cricket fraternity took to social media to wish the former Indian batter on the special occasion.
