Twitter Reactions: Axar Patel saves India D's bad day with scintillating knock, misses deserved ton

Duleep Trophy 2024 kicked off with India C taking on India D in the second match at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh on September 5. India C won the toss and opted to bowl first. Within 11 overs, India D were reduced to 34 runs for five wickets. The highest score among the top five batters was Yash Dubey’s 10 runs.

Captain Shreyas Iyer disappointed with just 9 runs and Devdutt Padikkal continued his loose touch with the bat, getting dismissed for a duck. Wicket-keeper batter, Srikar Bharat scored just 13 runs and Axar Patel did the heavy lifting batting at number seven. The tail-enders did not ably support the all-rounder, and despite no substantial aid, he notched 86 runs off 118 balls embellished with six boundaries and as many maximums.

Thanks to Axar’s match-saving innings, India D posted 164 runs on the board batting for just 48.3. The southpaw eventually fell to Hrithik Shokeen trying to slog and was caught by Manav Suthar. Vijaykumar Vyshak dazzled with three wickets as Himanshu Chauhan and Anshul Kamboj chipped in with two wickets each for India C.
