Twitter Reactions: Bad light, rain team up to spoil Sydney's Pink Test party on Day 2

Rain played spoilsport on Day 2 of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Early stumps was called as only 46 overs were bowled on the second day. Meanwhile, the match is nicely poised with Australia trailing by 197 runs. Openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja kicked off on a perfect note as their 70-run partnership gave the hosts much-needed momentum.

Playing his final red-ball game of his career, Warner was lucky with the bat as well. In the second Test in Melbourne, the southpaw was dropped by Abdullah Shafique at slip, while in the third Test, Saim Ayub dropped a regulation catch to give him a lifeline. However, the 37-year-old couldn't capitalise, as Agha Salman got the better of him on 34.

Khawaja, who looked rock-solid with the bat on Day 2, got out for 47 as he nicked one to Mohammad Rizwan off Aamer Jamal. Following which, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne took control of the situation. The duo looked to be in good touch before bad light stopped the play in Sydney, which was followed by rain.

Pakistan looked to be missing a quality pacer in the series. Shaheen Shah Afridi looked pale in the first and second Test and it showed that they were not necessarily missing him in Sydney. Sajid Khan, who replaced him in the playing XI, couldn’t make an impact as he failed to pick up any wickets. Jamal is the only player who looked threatening but there remains a lot of room for improvement for the entire bowling side.

The hosts will aim to take a lead on Day 3 to put Pakistan under pressure. The Shan Masood-led side is very much in the contest and a couple of wickets can change the game's complexion. The bowling unit will have to be at their best, while the fielders will need to come to the party to help the visiting team restore pride as they are currently trailing by 2-0 in the series.
