India are on the brink of a resounding victory in the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Chattogram after dismissing six Bangladeshi batters on the fourth day of the first Test. The hosts made a bright start to the day, heading to lunch unscathed against a hapless Indian bowling unit that toiled hard for 46 overs for their first wicket.
The day started with the Bangladeshi opening pair continuing their defiance with the bat. The pair were watchful in the morning session as Bangladesh remained unscathed in the first session of the day. The Indian bowlers gave their best, especially Mohammed Siraj, who even tried intimidating the young batters to no avail.
Najmul Hossain Shanto registered a well-compiled half-century and was dismissed after a spectacular grab by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. His wicket brought the visitors back into the contest, who got rid of Yasir Ali cheaply to push Bangladesh on the back foot after a solid 124-run opening stand.
Axar Patel shines after Zakir Hasan's maiden century on debut
Bangladeshi white-ball skipper Litton Das was all at sea against Kuldeep Yadav and eventually handed his wicket to the star Indian spinner as the visitors tightened their grip on the match. Despite three quick wickets, Zakir Hasan went on to compile a magnificent ton on debut, becoming the first Bangladeshi opener to score a century on debut.
However, he was dismissed right after reaching the milestone as India amped the pressure on the hosts in the final session of the day. Axar Patel, who boasts of an enviable record in Tests, produced two magical deliveries to get rid of Mushfiqur Rahim and Nurul Hasan in one over to hand his side the advantage ahead of the final day.
The Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan has got stuck for the hosts, taking on the Indian bowlers in the last few overs. He has received ample support from the mercurial Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the hosts take the game into the final day with four wickets remaining in the hut. They still need 241 runs on the final day to complete an unlikely victory.

This will be one of Axar's better performance on a track that didn't offer a lot of assistance like some of his earlier Tests#INDvBAN
