Jhulan Goswami's last international game of her career ended with a touch of controversy to it. Deepti Sharma ran out Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end for backing up too far to seal India's victory in what was turning out to be a thrilling game. England were only 17 runs away from a famous win with the final wicket already adding 35 runs.

The ninth wicket had fallen with the score reading 118 runs and Goswami also tried hard to pick the final wicket and end her career on a high. But it wasn't to be. Charlie Dean had other ideas as she took on the Indian bowling attack even as Freya Davies supported her really well.

However, in the 44th over, Deepti Sharma caught Dean going out of her crease early at the non-striker's end before the bowler ended her delivery stride. The all-rounder ran Dean out and the matter was taken upstairs. The third umpire deemed the dismissal to be valid and upheld India's appeal.

For the unversed, the dismissal is no more called mankading and unfair as now. As per the new rules, it is a run-out dismissal but it certainly had Twitter divided over the way the game ended.

Goswami ends her career on a high

Nevertheless, Jhulan Goswami managed to end her career on a high with a win for India. She also did well with the ball picking up a couple of wickets in her spell. Goswami returned with the figures of 2/30 in her 10 overs with three maidens. As for the rest of the bowlers, Renuka Singh Thakur was the hero for India picking up four wickets for just 29 runs in her spell.

England were bundled out for 153 runs chasing a paltry total of 170 runs with none of their batters apart from Charlie Dean showing heart to stick it out in the middle. Meanwhile, Twitter reacted to the controversial dismissal as Deepti Sharma started trending on social media.
