The Desert Vipers beat the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by seven wickets in the seventh match of the International League (ILT20) 2023 in Dubai on Wednesday, January 18. The Vipers have made some great advancements in the points table by the virtue of this win having now won both their matches. The Knight Riders, on the other hand, have now hit rock bottom having lost all the three games that they have played so far.

The Desert Vipers showcased clinical performances in all departments of the game as a result of which they were rewarded with a well-deserved victory. They applied the stranglehold on the opposition right from the beginning and never really allowed them to make any comeback in this contest.

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ winless streak continues in ILT20 2023

The Vipers skipper Colin Munro won the toss and elected to bowl first. While the Vipers bowlers dismantled the Abu Dhabi top-order from one end, they found it difficult to contain the Caribbean sensation Brandon King who scored a counter-attacking half-century.

King scored a vital 44-ball 57 and stayed at the crease right till the final over before being dismissed by Gus Atkinson. Apart from Brandon King, only Charith Asalanka (26) showed some resistance in what was otherwise a sorry-looking scorecard for the Knight Riders. Even their key power-hitter Andre Russell failed on the day being dismissed for a golden duck as they were restricted to 133/8.

Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva (3/18) and Gus Atkinson (2/35) were the picks of the bowlers for the Desert Vipers.

A straightforward chase for the Desert Vipers

In reply, the Vipers got off to a good start chasing a modest total as Alex Hales and Rohan Mustafa (23) added 39 runs for the opening stand before the latter was dismissed. Hales then anchored the chase successfully scoring a blistering 47-ball 64 before being boweled by Abu Dhabi skipper Sunil Narine in the 15th over.

Nonetheless, it was too late by then as Englishman Sam Billings added the finishing touches in the 16th over remaining unbeaten on 35 runs off 29 balls.

Here’s how the netizens reacted to the Desert Vipers’ superb collective performance
