India defeated Bangladesh by 10 wickets to confirm their finals berth in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2024. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side had a strong outing with the ball and produced a brilliant performance to get the job done at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 26.
Electing to bat first, the Nigar Sultana-led side struggled to get going. Openers Dilara Akter and Murshida Khatun departed early and went back under three overs, scoring six and four runs, respectively. The No.3 batter Ishma Tanjim also failed to add many runs to the tally and walked after scoring just eight runs in ten deliveries. Skipper Sultana tried to stabilize the innings in the middle and scored a 51 ball-32. She laced her innings with two boundaries.
The middle order of Rumana Ahmed, Rabeya Khan, and Ritu Moni faced a batting collapse and managed to add just seven runs collectively. Shorna Akter provided the late flourish, scoring 19 runs off 18 balls. The Bangla batters were restricted to 80/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Among Indian bowlers, Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav bagged three crucial wickets each and conceded just 10 and 14 runs respectively. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma also ended with one wicket apiece.
When it came to the chase, it was all too easy for the mighty Indians. Openers Shafali Verma and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana smashed the opposition bowlers from the first bowl and accumulated 46 runs in the first six overs without losing any wickets. Mandhana smashed her 25th half-century to take her side to the finals. The left-hander laced her innings with nine boundaries and one six. While Verma stayed unbeaten on 26 runs and smashed two boundaries.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will play Pakistan in the second semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 at the same ground later in the evening.
