The high-profile encounter between India and Pakistan got underway at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14, Saturday. It has been extremely one-sided in India's favour, with the Men in Blue having a 7-0 head-to-head record versus Pakistan in World Cups. The ongoing match is both the sides' first meeting in India since 2016.

In terms of the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Babar Azam and Co. to bat first. India got off to the worst possible start, conceding a flurry of boundaries, with Imam-ul-Haq hitting back-to-back fours off Mohammed Siraj. However, the pacer gave India their first breakthrough, dismissing Abdullah Shafique for only 20 runs.

Hardik Pandya then struck for India, dismissing Imam-ul-Haq for 36, leaving Pakistan at 73/2 in 12.3 overs. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan stood firm for Pakistan and gradually pulled together a 50-plus-run partnership. However, the captain was dismissed by Siraj in the 30th over, just after he obtained a half-century.  Notably, India gained full command over the Pakistan batters in the 33rd over, with Kuldeep Yadav dismissing Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in the same over, putting Pakistan at 166/5.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah came in and took the big wicket of Rizwan in the next over. The wicketkeeper-batter was quick to hit his shot, but the ball easily shattered the stumps, putting Pakistan six down. Bumrah added one more wicket to his name as he sent back Shadab Khan to the pavilion.

Later, Hardik claimed his second wicket of the day, dismissing Mohammad Nawaz for just four runs. Nawaz hammered it hard to mid-on as Bumrah grabbed a good catch.

After Hardik took a wicket, Ravindra Jadeja gave the team another breakthrough by dismissing Hasan Ali for just 12 runs. The ace all-rounder picked up his second wicket, dismissing Haris Rauf as India bundled out Pakistan for a below-par 191 in 42.5 overs.
