Wicketkeeper batter Naman Ojha smashed a wonderful century for India Legends in the summit clash of the ongoing Road Safety World Series season two to take his team into a consolidating position batting first.

Skipper of India Legends Sachin Tendulkar didn't have any hesitation in electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Chhattisgarh. India Legends were jolted early as they lost their captain for a golden duck and soon lost Suresh Raina, who fell for an individual score of four runs.

With India reeling at 19 for the loss of two wickets after three overs, Ojha needed someone to safeguard the ship at the other end and found Vinay Kumar. Vinay was promoted up the order to tonk the ball and the all-rounder did just that.

Ojha got off to a circumspect beginning but started taking the attack to the Sri Lankan bowlers as soon as he got a feel of the wicket. On the other hand, Vinay's flamboyant approach upfront helped Ojha to get his eye in as Vinay smashed a 21-ball 36 at a spectacular strike rate of 171.42.

When Vinay finally perished in an attempt to continue on his merry ways, Ojha took charge and was seen in his elements. He farmed the strike to perfection and targetted the Sri Lankan bowlers, who clearly struggled to grip the ball due to the dew in the outfield.

Ojha brought his century in sublime fashion as he hammered Ishan Jayaratne for a six on the first delivery of the penultimate over. He eventually finished with an unbeaten 108-run knock off just 71 balls, including 15 fours and two sixes. What stood out was his strike rate, Ojha aggregated his runs at a magnificent strike rate of 152.11.

Naman with his unbeaten 108-run knock went past Tillakaratne Dilshan to set up the new highest individual score in the history of the tournament. The previous best by Dilshan (107) had also come during this season against Australia Legends.

Ojha's brilliant knock helped India Legends to rack up 195 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs and might play a crucial role in them defending their title.
