After losing the first T20I by four runs, India were expected to fight back with the bat in the second match of the series in Guyana, but in reality, it was a carbon copy of the match in Trinidad. Shubman Gill once again failed to deliver in the middle, while Tilak Varma was India’s star with the bat. Along with Ishan Kishan, the youngster built a 42-run partnership, which ended up being very important to the visiting team.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav’s poor form in international cricket continued as the Mumbai-born cricketer scored only one run in the second T20I. Tilak Varma meanwhile completed his maiden half-century in international cricket but couldn’t convert his start into a big total. Later on, skipper Hardik Pandya tried to accelerate in the middle, but the 29-year-old could score only 24 runs off 18 deliveries.

Sanju Samson, meanwhile, failed to fire yet again as India ended up posting 152 runs on board after 20 overs. West Indies bowlers were once again fantastic with their line and length as Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, and Romario Shephard picked up two wickets each in the middle.

When it came to the chase, the home team, too, struggled to get going in the initial stage, but Nicholas Pooran’s entry changed the complexion of the game. The stumper-batter was phenomenal in the middle, hitting 67 runs off 40 deliveries. Skipper Rovman Powell, too tried his best, scoring 21 runs off 19 deliveries as the duo set the platform for the home team to get the job done.

However, Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant spell delayed West Indies’ win. The leg-spinner picked up two wickets, and the home team was suddenly in danger. However, Akeal Hosein kept his calm and eventually played a very crucial knock to help his team win the match by two wickets. Meanwhile, skipper Hardik Pandya will have to take responsibility for the loss, as the cricketer didn’t bring Chahal back into the action despite bowling a stellar spell. With that, India's hope to win the upcoming T20 World Cup is also under threat as the young team is yet to show any progress in recent times.
