Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants clinched a crucial victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a hard-fought contest in Hyderabad to remain in contention for a playoffs spot in IPL 2023. It was LSG's big hitters Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran who came up trumps for the visitors in a tricky chase.

Run scoring was a tough task for the LSG openers during the chase with Kyle Mayers taking 11 deliveries to open his account typifying their struggles on a two-paced surface. While Glenn Phillips pulled the curtains on Mayer's miserable innings, Quinton de Kock and Prerak Mankad steadied the ship to some extent.

The visitors were struggling for momentum in the middle overs after de Kock's dismissal. However, LSG flicked the switch after the 12-over mark, with Marcus Stoinis putting his foot on the accelerator. Catastrophe hit for the home side when part-timer Abhishek Sharma was smoked for five sixes in an over, conceding 31 runs to hand LSG the ascendancy in the death overs.

It was a cakewalk from thereon as Nicholas Pooran's explosive cameo and Prerak Mankad's well-compiled half-century handed the visitors a much-needed victory, which saw their side climb to fourth place in the points table.

Klaasen's assault took SRH to a competitive total

It was the home side who won the toss and elected to bat first on a sluggish surface in Hyderabad. Aiden Markram's side got off to a stumbling start after an in-from Abhishek Sharma was sent packing by Yudhvir Singh in the third over of the match. Despite that early loss, the Orange Army finished the powerplay on a high thanks to
Rahul Tripathi's brisk cameo.

While Triphati's innings came to an end after Quinton de Kock's fine catch, Anmolpreet Singh also departed post the powerplay. The home side were in safe hands with skipper Aiden Markram and his compatriot Heinrich Klaasen looking in decent touch in the middle. However, there was a shift in momentum after Markram and last match's hero Glenn Phillips was dismissed off consecutive deliveries by Krunal Pandya.

But the home side hit back with a brisk partnership between Klaasen and Abdul Samad. Although the hosts lost their way in the latter stages following a contentious no-ball call, they finished with more than a competitive total of 182 runs in their 20 overs.
