April 2, 2011, will be a date forever etched in the rich annals of Indian cricket, with the co-hosts overpowering Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, by six wickets to become the world champions. Notably, Team India emerged triumphant after 28 long years of the nation lifting their maiden ODI World Cup title.

Now, on this day (April 2, 2024), 13 years post the red-letter day, the Player of the Tournament Yuvraj Singh reflected on the unforgettable day and the moment of lifting the trophy in front of the crowd who had filled the Wankhede up to its brim.

Yuvraj shared an 89-second video, which was essentially an edit which started off with there being several articles regarding the shock exit that Team India suffered during the 2007 edition of the global mega event, with them finishing third in their group (Group B), which had Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bermuda. Notably, a shock upset at the hands of Bangladesh forced India to progress to the Super Eight round. Thereafter, the video featured some memorable moments from the 2011 campaign, with a glorious compilation of some critical moments from every match, right from India's curtain-raiser against Bangladesh to MS Dhoni's finishing six, to short segments of player interviews, culminating with a picture of the World Cup trophy in Yuvraj's hands.
