Usain Bolt the greatest sprinter of all time rose to the euphoric level where he wanted to. His aim right from the start of his career was to be called a legend. He had achieved that and was already being referred to as one. He then wanted to become immortal which he has now achieved winning his 3rd 100m Olympic gold.

Bolt isn’t the best of starters and was behind American Justin Gatlin in the final of the 100m spring at Rio. But like he always does, covered it up at lightning speed and raced past everyone in the last 40 meters or so. Like most of us, all our cricketers were also glued to the television screens to watch Bolt make history.

After his win, the Jamaican champion said, “Somebody said I can become immortal,”

“Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal.” Bolt said.

“It was brilliant,” of Sunday’s race Bolt said. “I didn’t go so fast but I’m so happy I won. I told you guys I was going to do it.”

Gatlin had to yet again settle for a single. Gatlin said of Bolt, “He rises to the occasion, he is a great runner.”

David Wallechinsky, the president of the International Society of Olympic Historians said, “has got to be the most universal event other than the long jump,”

“Everyone’s tried it at least once in their lives. To be the best in the Olympics three times in something that everyone has done at least once is incredible.”

Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli had already said that they have planned the travel such that the team will arrive just in time to the hotel to watch Bolt race and they did. Kohli was one of the first to post a Tweet congratulating him. Here is how the cricketing universe celebrated Usain Bolt’s 100m hat-trick:
