In what was a clinical performance by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, they managed to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand, Gujarat Lions ended their 2-year campaign with a loss. As of now, tomorrow’s clash between Pune and Punjab is expected to be a knockout game. Earlier in the day, it was captain David Warner who won the toss as SRH elected to field first. Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra missed out an important game sighting injuries. For Gujarat Lions, Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel came in for Basil Thampi and Dhawal Kulkarni.

Gujarat were off to a tremendous start. Dwayne Smith put up a sensational display of power hitting but it was Ishan Kishan who won the accolades for the day. While Smith made his way for 54 (33), Ishan made a staggering 61 (40) with 4 maximums.

While both put on an 111-run partnership for the first wicket, a collapse triggered after both were dismissed. The Gujarat Lions went from 111/0 to 123/5 within a matter of time. They later slumped to 154 all out thanks to some splendid bowling effort by Mohammed Siraj who got four wickets. Rashid Khan also got three wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar also got a couple wickets.

On the other hand, SRH were off to a shaky start. While Shikhar Dhawan looked good for a moment, he got out trying to go for the pull. Moises Henriques also departed early as SRH were left reeling at 25/2 with no Yuvraj Singh and Kane Williamson in the middle.

But as has been the story for Hyderabad most of the times, David Warner again stepped up with a spectacular captain’s knock and smashed a magnificent 69 runs from 52 balls. From the other end, it was Vijay Shankar who scored a fascinating 63 (44)* as SRH never looked on the backfoot with these two at the crease.

Hyderabad went on to win the game by 8 wickets and qualified for the playoffs. Leaving Praveen Kumar’s 2/21, no bowler exerted any kind of pressure on the Sunrisers. Mohammed Siraj for his marvel bowling was adjudged the man of the match.
