The Delhi Daredevils played the spoilers for the Chennai Super Kings in their penultimate game of the season. They stayed back in Delhi to host the Mumbai Indians in the last league game for both the sides. And yet again, the Daredevils spoiled the party for their opposition. The marquee clash between MI and the DD was a must-win game for the former. But the Rohit Sharma-led side saw themselves being totally outplayed in the game in all the departments.
Earlier in the match, the DD skipper Shreyas Iyer surprised everyone by opting to bat first after winning the toss. The Daredevils opened with Prithvi Shaw (12) and Glenn Maxwell (22) in the game but only to see a timid start to their innings. Skipper Shreyas Iyer perished cheaply as well with just 6 runs to his name.
Yet again, it was Rishabh Pant, who proved to be the savior for the Daredevils. Pant brought up yet another fifty in the season and en route his lovely innings, he reclaimed the Orange Cap as well. Pant scored a quick 64 off just 44 balls with four boundaries and as many number of sixes to his name.
Pant, however, failed to stay till the very end in the innings. He was dismissed by Krunal Pandya in the 17th over. After Pant’s dismissal, Vijay Shankar took over the innings. He remained unbeaten on 43 (30) and found some support from Abhishek Sharma’s unbeaten 15 (10) as Delhi Daredevils finished with 174/4 in their stipulated 20 overs.
In the run chase, the Mumbai Indians lost Suryakumar Yadav in the very first over bowled by Sandeep Lamichhane. The wickets of Ishan Kishan (5) and Kieron Pollard (7) fell soon after and the visitors were in all sorts of trouble. Evin Lewis tried to hold the fort from his end. His 48 off 31 balls kept the innings going. But after his dismissal, the innings lost the plot again. Krunal Pandya was sent packing quickly.
Rohit Sharma (13) and Hardik Pandya (27) rallied the hopes of the MI camp for a brief while before throwing away their wickets at a crucial stage. In the end, the little too much to overhaul for Ben Cutting and the tail-enders. MI bundled out for 163 and fell short by 11 runs despite Cutting’s 20-ball 37.

If only they had shown this form earlier in the season!#DDvMI #MIvDD #IPL2018— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) May 20, 2018
That's how the season for #MI has been. There, but not there yet. Tough luck. But all said and done 6 wins of 14 games not enough to be in the Playoffs. They didn't play like defending champions. Mum-bye guys. #DDvMI

Mumbai Indians and Chelsea are much similar.
*Both Blues
*Defending champions, finished 5th this season (mostly)
* Team and their owners are hated by everyone#IPL2018— Santhosh Udupa (@udupa_tuttu) May 20, 2018
Thank you @Cuttsy31 for that late flourish. Take a bow. As for the rest of the team, you've been a disappointment this year. All of you. Be cheering for you next year though. Get your shit together. #MumbaiIndians
