The packed house at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium were thrilled to bits in the southern derby of the reason. The Royal Challengers Bangalore hosted the Chennai Super Kings in the marquee clash that created a lot of buzz prior to its commencement. And now that the game is done and dusted, it is still set to make a few headlines for the next couple of days for sure.

The match turned out to be an absolute runfest. The Chennai Super Kings were set a target of 205 to win and at one stage in the game, it all looked grim for them. Ambati Rayudu played an anchoring knock on the day to keep Chennai Super Kings interested. Also, the CSK skipper MS Dhoni rose to the occasion to hammer an unbeaten 70 off just 34 balls to seal the game for his side. Yet again, Dhoni finished things off in style with a six.

Earlier in the game, it was MS Dhoni’s call to put Royal Challengers Bangalore in to bat first. The move worked as the visitors dismissed Virat Kohli in the powerplay. But soon, the RCB innings picked up some serious pace with the South African duo of AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock hitting their individual fifties. They added a crucial 103 runs for the second wicket to put the hosts in firm command.

However, once the wickets of the set batsmen fell, the innings seemed to crash out. While Quinton perished with a score of 53 (37), AB de Villiers top scored with 68 (30). For the Chennai Super Kings, it was Imran Tahir who turned the game with a twin strike in the 15th over dismissing ABD and Corey Anderson.

Mandeep Singh stepped up for the hosts with a quick 32 off 17 deliveries and Washington Sundar gave the final flourish with 11 runs in the final over to take the RCB total to 205/8 in 20 overs. For CSK, Dwayne Bravo was a super star with the ball with 2/33 to his name including a maiden in the game.

In the run chase, the Chennai Super Kings found themselves struggling at 74/4 after the conclusion of the 9th over. Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni then added a very crucial 101 run stand to bring the visitors back in the game. Rayudu perished after a well made 82 off 53 deliveries, but Dhoni stayed on unbeaten on 70 to ensure a five wicket win for his side on the day.
