It was going all well, victory was well within grips and they had everything in control to script one of the most exciting ODI wins in recent times but just when the deal looked seal England and Jake Ball in particular pulled off one of the most spectacular comebacks to grab the game for his team with 21 runs still in hand.

Till the point Imrul Kayes and Shakib Al Hasan were batting it looked like Bangladesh will start the series with a victory but Ball first removed Shakib and Adil Rashid soon foxed the centurion Kayes to derail the chase completely.

To start with Jos Buttler captioning in his first ODI won the toss and decided to bat first. Ben Duckett playing his debut game took his time and adjusted to the pitch and got to his half century. He had all-rounder Ben Stokes for company at the other end who too was in great form today. Stokes had his shots flowing around and soon overpowered the Bangladeshi bowlers who looked almost helpless against the pair. Having hit eight 4s and four 6es Stokes got to his maiden ODI ton but was dismissed immediately after.

Skipper Jos Buttler who is the designated finisher in the team walked in at no. 6 and played a quick-fire knock, it was he who took the English total past 300 and gave them the feeling at half way stage that they had a winnable total on the board. For Bangladesh Mashrafe Mortaza, Shafiul Islam and Shakib Al Hasan picked a couple of wickets each.

In their reply, Bangladesh started off well with Imrul Kayes deciding to protect his wicket and at the same time keep the scoreboard moving. There were starts for others but nobody apart from Shakib capitalized.

Both the batsmen not only built a 100 plus runs partnership but also placed Bangladesh well on course of a victory. But once they departed their batting order spilled over with Ball picking a 5-wicket haul on debut and Rashid scalping a 4-wicket haul.
