Bangladesh left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny and in-form pacer Taskin Ahmed were suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect after an independent assessment found their bowling actions to be illegal. They were earlier reported for suspect actions in the WT20 match against Netherlands during the qualifying round.
Both bowlers underwent assessments in Chennai last week.They returned to represent Bangladesh against Pakistan in the Super 10 and took 2 wickets apiece. It has now been reported that the BCB has lodged an appeal to the ICC to lift Taskin Ahmed’s suspension from bowling in international cricket. The loss of the in-form Taskin, particularly in the continued injury absence of Mustafizur Rahman has been a bitter pill to swallow for the Bangladesh team.
The 20-year-old pacer was impressive for Bangladesh during the Asia Cup. Even Sunny was doing a decent job for them. The Bangladesh fans vent out their frustration in social media over the suspension of two of their prime bowlers. They felt that the ICC has been unfair to them. Many former cricketers and experts also joined the debate on Twitter.
