Delhi Capitals (DC) batters came out all guns blazing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowlers during the first innings of a group stage match being played at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 10 (Sunday). With the help of some impressive knocks from Prithvi Shaw, David Warner and skipper Rishabh Pant, DC managed to pile up 215 runs in their 20 overs.

KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer, after winning the toss, invited DC to bat first. Openers Shaw and Warner took the attack to KKR bowlers straightaway, scoring 68 runs during the field restrictions. Shaw (51 off 29 balls), was the first wicket to fall. He was cleaned up by KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the ninth over of the innings.

Opener Warner was then joined by skipper Rishabh Pant and they continued the assault on KKR bowlers. Both Pant and Warner stitched a 50+ runs partnership and smashed the KKR bowlers for fun. Meanwhile, Warner completed his half-century in 13th over of the match, but skipper Pant (27 off 14 balls) was scalped by pacer Andre Russell in the very same over.

After the fall of Pant, the Men in Purple tasted some success, as they managed to scalp the wickets of batter Lalit Yadav (1 off 4 balls) and allrounder Rovman Powell (8 off 6 balls) in quick succession. Warner was then joined by another left-handed batter Axar Patel in the middle. However, the left-handed opener Warner departed after scoring 61 off 45 balls on the bowling of pacer Umesh Yadav. However, Shardul Thakur (29 off 11 balls) and Axar Patel (22 off 14 balls) managed to get DC past the 200-run mark.

For KKR, veteran spinner Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers, scalping two crucial wickets and giving away only 21 runs in his four over quota. Russell, Umesh and Chakravarthy also managed to grab one wicket each. Australian pacer Pat Cummins gave away 51 runs in his four overs and did not managed to get a wicket for his side.
